ISLAMABAD: Organizers announced on Friday that the torch relay for the Paris Olympics will flinch in Marseille in April 2024.

The Olympics torch will arrive in Marseille from Greece, the home of the Olympics, via sea. The torch will set the tone for the Olympics Games, whose opening ceremony will be held in Paris.

Organizers said it is an honor for Marseille to be the first city to warmly receive the Olympic flame on French land.

Local media reports said that a majestic three-masted ship will carry the torch across the Mediterranean Sea from city of Athens to Marseille.

The ancient Greek colony of Massalia was set up on the French Mediterranean coast in 600 BC.

Chief organizer Tony Estanguet told the media that Marseille “was a natural choice” to host the arrival of the Olympics torch. The Paris Olympics is going to take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
