“The Sindh Government declares 06th and 7th March 2023 as a holiday for Hindu Community on the occasion of “HOLI” for all public and private offices, autonomous, semi-autonomous bodies, corporations, and local councils under the Sindh administrative government, except those engaged in covid and flood relief duties,” read the notification announced by the Services, General Administration and Coordination Department today.

Festival of  Holi colours

Holi, the Hindu spring festival known as the “festival of colours”, is celebrated by Hindu citizens in Pakistan and globally with traditional and religious fervour.

The Hindu community celebrates Holi, the end of winter, and the arrival of the spring season. Revellers spray coloured water and powder at each other, dance, and distribute sweets during the celebrations.

They smear “Abeer” and red vermilion powder and other coloured powders, and they throw water-filled balloons at each other.

The Hindu Holi festival occurs on the last full moon day of the Hindu lunisolar calendar month.

Due to the Hindu calendar, Holi is celebrated on Phalgun Purnima in February or March.
