Manto’s Timeless Plays Set to Captivate Audience at Theatre

KARACHI: The National Academy of Performing Arts (NAPA) is set to captivate theatre-goers with the timeless dramas penned by Saadat Hasan Manto, beginning on June 1.

During a press conference at NAPA, Director Rao Jamal Singh Rajput announced the schedule for Manto’s celebrated plays, “Akeli” and “Sarhadi,” which will be performed at the Zia Mohyeddin Theatre from June 1 to 8.

These dramatic renditions of Manto’s literary masterpieces mark their first-ever staging in Pakistan, offering an immersive experience distinct from his well-known short stories. Rao Jamal Rajput highlighted the meticulous preparation over six months to bring these dramas to life, ensuring authenticity in every detail, from era-appropriate costumes to adherence to the original script.

The event also showcased the esteemed cast, including Hiba Ali Khan, Reham Rafique, Zulfiqar Ghouri, Usman Javaid, and Wahab Shah. They provided insights into their roles, promising an unforgettable theatrical experience for all attendees.
