IMPHAL: The Manipur Muslim Welfare Organisation on Thursday condemned the bomb attack by unknown miscreants in Kwakta on Wednesday in which three people of the Meetei Pangal community were wounded with one in critical condition.

MMWO also said that Manipur’s Meetei Pangal community will not remain silent if the authorities failed to investigate and arrest the culprits involved in the attack.

Speaking to journalists, MMWO advisor Abdula Phundreimayum expressed suspicion that the attackers were intentionally trying to provoke the Meetei Pangal community who is seeking to mediate in the ongoing crisis and preaching the message of calm and peace.

He underlined the various accounts during the crisis in which Central troops were directly implicated for harming public property in Manipur.

He said that how can such an attack happen in a zone guarded by Central paramilitary and state troops; Kuldiep Singh cannot remain silent on the issue and MMWO will not stop raising concerns until the problem is properly ascertained.

Abdula further said that the Manipur crisis would have been swiftly resolved if it had occurred in any of  mainland states of India.

Central government’s interests in Manipur

Questioning the Central government’s delay tactics of in dousing the problem in Manipur, he alleged that the Central government was trying to safeguard its vested interests.

He added that if it had been Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, or any other mainland state, the problem would be solved in no time but the delay is causing people to question the Centre’s intention.

He further criticized the central government and questioned if the leaders only wanted the land of Manipur and not its people.

He appealed to the Central government to resolve the problem without waiting for an eruption of violence in Manipur.
