ISLAMABAD: In a heartfelt plea for clemency, the wife of prominent Kashmiri Hurriyat leader Yasin Malik, Mushaal Hussein Mullick, along with her daughter Raziyah Sultana, have taken their concerns to the highest international stage.

The duo has urgently appealed to the United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, in a bid to spare Yasin Malik from the looming threat of capital punishment.

The impassioned appeal was delivered through a formal letter submitted at the office of the UN Military Observer Group situated in both India and Pakistan. This significant initiative aims to shed light on the dire situation facing Yasin Malik and calls upon the international community to intervene and uphold justice, according to state media.

Raziyah Sultana, the daughter of Yasin Malik, expressed in the letter that her father symbolizes the embodiment of a non-violent political struggle that has come to define the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. At the heart of this struggle is the fundamental human right of self-determination, a right that the Kashmiri population fervently seeks to exercise. Yasin Malik has stood as the face of this peaceful movement, advocating for a political resolution to the ongoing conflict and seeking a path to secure the rights and autonomy of his fellow Kashmiris.
