KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia: Former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad, who is nearly 100 years old, has been discharged from the hospital following a two-week treatment for a respiratory infection.
His office confirmed that he returned home on Monday and will resume work at his office. Mahathir, who turned 99 in July, had previously faced health issues, spending nearly three months in the hospital earlier this year due to other health concerns.
Mahathir served as Malaysia’s prime minister from 1981 to 2003 and made a comeback in 2018 at the age of 92. However, his political career has seen ups and downs, including a shocking defeat in the 2022 elections, which resulted in the loss of his parliamentary seat. Despite this setback, he remains active in politics and has been vocal in his criticism of the current Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
