KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad is still receiving medical treatment in hospital his spokesperson said on Tuesday, dismissing rumors the 98-year-old was in critical condition.
The spokesman added that the former Prime Minister is recovering from an infection. Mahathir Mohamad was admitted to the National Heart Institute on January 26 due to an unspecified infection, local media reported.

Mahathir Mohamad’s spokesperson has rejected speculation on social media that the former Prime Minister is in critical condition.
The veteran politician, who has served Malaysia for around two decades, has a history of heart problems.
He served two non-sequential terms as prime minister of the country for 24 years and left the post in 2020. Mahathir Mohamad returned as PM in 2018 but could continue his government for long term due to internal problems.
