Malaysian Envoy Highlights Robust Pakistan-Malaysia Bilateral Relations

ISLAMABAD: Malaysian High Commissioner to Pakistan, Ambassador Dato’ Mohammad Azhar Mazlan, on Thursday delivered an engaging lecture at Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad to enhance bilateral relations and promote educational opportunities between Malaysia and Pakistan. The event was warmly welcomed by faculty members, staff, and eager students from the international relations discipline.

Upon his arrival, Ambassador Dato’ Azhar and his delegation were cordially received by Professor Dr. Zafar Nawaz Jaspal, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, alongside lecturers and university staff. The session commenced with Ambassador Dato’ Azhar highlighting the robust bilateral relations between Malaysia and Pakistan, particularly focusing on trade, economic cooperation, tourism, and the strong people-to-people connections that bind the two nations.

During the lecture, attended by a large number of students, Ambassador Dato’ Azhar highlighted various aspects of Malaysia’s foreign policies, emphasizing its active role within ASEAN and commitment to regional stability and development. He also highlighted the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Program (MTCP) and underscored its role in capacity building and development cooperation with Pakistan.

Ambassador Dato’ Azhar said Malaysia offer conducive environment for education, state-of-the-art facilities, and globally recognized education standards, all within a Muslim-friendly setting. He said that nearly 5,000 Pakistani students are currently pursuing their studies in Malaysia.Malaysian

The lecture concluded with an interactive Question-and-Answer session, where students had the opportunity to engage directly with the High Commissioner on various topics including the Palestine-Israel conflict, the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), Jammu & Kashmir, and neutrality between superpowers.

Following the session, attendees were treated to a sampling of Malaysian cuisine, including Nasi Lemak & Ayam Goreng (coconut rice and fried chicken), symbolizing the cultural exchange and friendship between Malaysia and Pakistan.

This lecture session is part of the ongoing efforts by the High Commission of Malaysia in Islamabad to strengthen bilateral ties through educational and cultural exchanges within institutions of higher learning in Pakistan, fostering greater people-to-people contact and understanding between the two nations.
