JAKARTA: Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has stressed upon the necessity of a regional financial system to achieve economic stability in the region, local media reported on Thursday.
Speaking at the 26th Asean Plus Three Summit he said such move would address economic global fears and financial risks. He noted that the measure would also help to enhance regional economic independence.
Anwar for greater cooperation in smart agriculture
He also talked about concerns about food security and called for greater cooperation in smart agriculture, especially aiming at smallholders.
The PM also urged for collaboration with China, Japan, and South Korea in the development of renewable energy, biodiversity assets, and the application of agri-technology.

Anwar lauded the adoption of the Asean Plus Three Leaders’ Statement on Developing the Electric Vehicle Ecosystem.
China’s Premier Li Qiang, Japan’s Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, South Korea’s President Yoon Suk Yeol, and Indonesian President Joko Widodo participated in the meeting.
Anwar is heading the Malaysian delegation in 43rd Asean Summit which ends today. It is also his first interaction with the seven Asean Dialogue Partners, namely Australia, China, Japan, India, South Korea, the United States and Canada.
