ISLAMABAD: The malaria outbreak has rung the alarm bells in Pakistan’s Sindh province as 3,64,000 cases have been reported this year of them mostly from the flood-hit areas.
According to the health department in Sindh, a large number of women and children are also affected by the disease. Around 41 thousand cases are reported from shelter camps in the flood-affected areas. A total of 25 lakh tests have been conducted this year and the highest cases around 51034 were reported from Thatha. As many as 50205 cases were reported from Larkana, 8752 cases from Karachi, and 2052 cases were reported from Sanghar.

Malaria Claimed 30 lives in Sindh only
According to the Director of General Health, Dr. Juman Bahoto, malaria has claimed 30 lives so far only in the Dadu district. He said that the actual number of deaths is not clear due to underreporting. He has warned this outbreak could get worse in this winter season.
