LASBELLA, Pakistan: A tragic accident occurred on the Makran Coastal Highway near Buzzi Top, where a bus carrying pilgrims from Iran met with a devastating accident, resulting in the deaths of 10 people and injuries to more than 30 others.
According to rescue sources, the accident was caused by brake failure, leading the bus to veer off course and plunge into a deep ditch. The bus was en route to Punjab, carrying pilgrims from Lahore and Gujranwala who were returning from Iran.
This route, often used by pilgrims, is known for its challenging terrain, and accidents have, unfortunately, been a recurring issue.
Rescue teams were quickly dispatched to the scene, working tirelessly to retrieve the injured and the deceased from the wreckage. The injured were promptly transported to nearby hospitals for emergency medical treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were also taken to local medical facilities for identification and further procedures.
The Makran Coastal Highway, though vital for connectivity, has seen numerous accidents, often due to the combination of heavy traffic, difficult road conditions, and vehicle malfunctions like the brake failure that occurred in this instance. Authorities have been called upon multiple times to improve safety measures on this critical route, but accidents continue to claim lives.
This tragic incident follows closely on the heels of another devastating accident involving Pakistani pilgrims in Iran, where 35 people lost their lives and 15 were injured when their bus met with a fatal accident. The close succession of these accidents has raised serious concerns about the safety of pilgrim transportation, particularly on routes that are frequently used by large numbers of travelers for religious purposes.
As investigations into the causes of these accidents continue, there is an urgent need for stricter safety protocols and better infrastructure to prevent such tragedies in the future. The loss of life and the injuries sustained in these accidents have brought immense sorrow to the families involved, and the broader community is mourning yet another devastating incident on roads that should be safe for all travelers.
