JEDDAH: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s (KSA) Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture’s Makkah region branch has launched the 2024 National Greening Season, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The SPA reported that this initiative aligns with the broader national afforestation drive under the Saudi Green Initiative, aiming to promote sustainable environmental development as well as enhance vegetation cover.
The SPA added that on the first day, several afforestation campaigns were implemented across the region in partnership with government departments, private sector entities, as well as environmental associations.

The SPA reported that more than 300 volunteers planted over 3,900 seedlings, including various wild and urban plant species that contribute to environmental sustainability and water conservation. These efforts aim to increase agricultural as well as environmental awareness within the community.
