ISLAMABAD: Police and Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) have launched a major crackdown against the gold mafia in the country, sources said on Thursday.
A special task force has been established to conduct operations against the gold mafia, engaged in illegal trade and smuggling of the precious metal.
The task force has prepared a list of the suspects who will be arrested and sentenced as per the law.
Moreover, the government is also working to bring gold dealers in the tax net and make the business computerized.
Gold rates drop
Due to the ongoing crackdown, the precious metal has witnessed a significant drop in its prices in the past few days, and it is expected that the rates will be slashed further, which would benefit the masses.
