Mahmud Abbas Urges Immediate End to Israeli Aggression

RAMALLAH: Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas has called for an immediate end to the aggression against the Palestinian people in Gaza, Western media reported on Thursday.

He made the remarks during a meeting with Jordan’s King Abdullah II.

This was his first public remarks since the conflict between Israel and Plastination group Hamas started early Saturday.

Mahmud Abbas office in a statement after the meeting said Abbas rejected practices related to killing of civilians on both sides.

The statement added the two leaders met in Amman and discussed ways to end the Israeli blatant aggression against the Palestinian people and deliver aid and relief to Gaza.

Targeting civilians against all morals, religion

Abbas said targeting civilians is against all contravenes morals, religion and international law.

According to the statement, he said Palestinians reject violence and adhere to international legitimacy to achieving their national goals.

Abbas also said the only power plant in the Gaza Strip has stopped working due to shortage of fuel urging action to secure the supply of electricity and water for Gaza.

Jordan’s King Abdullah on Thursday ordered to allocate 3 million dinars ($4.23 million) for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees.

The recent conflict in Gaza has led to a significant loss of life, with more than 1,200 reported casualties due to Israel’s continuous campaign of air and artillery strikes, causing over 338,000 people to be displaced, according to the UN.
