MADINAH: The Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission has successfully concluded the third edition of the Madinah Book Fair, held from July 30 to August 5 at the King Salman International Convention and Exhibition Center, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
According to the SPA, the fair featured more than 300 publishing houses and local, Arab, and global agencies with more than 200 pavilions. The exhibition has attracted around 170,000 visitors from inside and outside the Madinah region, a 22% surge compared to the last edition.
This year, the fair coincided with the summer school vacation, resulting in a significant turnout from attendees, especially families, students, and book enthusiasts. The book fair offered a diverse and rich cultural program and showcased the latest literary, cognitive, scientific and Islamic publications.
The Commission’s organization of the Madinah Book Fair 2024 shows a renewed vision and a distinctive identity aligned with the latest developments in the publishing industry. This step builds upon the successes of the two last editions and highlights Madinah’s cultural significance within the Saudi cultural scene.
The event is part of the strategic “Book Fairs” initiative, which aims to empower the publishing industry, enhance societal cognitive and cultural awareness, enhance quality of life, and contribute to national economic growth in line with the goals of the National Strategy for Culture outlined in the Saudi Vision 2030.
