BRUSSELS: France President Emmanuel Macron emphasized on Friday that Ukraine’s potential membership in the European Union is still far from realization, despite recent developments at the EU summit in Brussels.
Responding to concerns about the impact on France’s farmers due to the integration of Ukraine’s sizable agricultural sector into the EU, Macron pointed out the need for significant rule reforms and a substantial increase in funding to facilitate any enlargement process.
While acknowledging the breakthrough at the summit, Macron signaled that effective enlargement to include Ukraine remains a distant prospect.
