KOLKATA, India: India, Asia, Africa, Russia, and Europe will witness a partial lunar eclipse tonight, continuing until the early hours of October 29, astrophysicist Debi Prasad Duari said.

Duari told Press Trust of India, “There is going to be a partial lunar eclipse on the night of October 28, which people in India can experience along with the entire Asia, Europe, Africa, and Russia. The eclipse will occur during late night of October 28 and continue till the early hours of October 29.”

According to him, there will be a partial lunar eclipse in India on October 28, when the moon will be partially covered by the Earth’s shadow for a while.

Two moon stages mark a lunar eclipse under the Earth’s shadow. When it enters a partially shadowed planet region, it is known as the penumbral eclipse, when the moon remains partly lighted.

The brightness variation is barely noticeable. Following this phase, the moon will partially enter the shadowed area of the Earth, known as an umbral lunar eclipse, which most people believe to be the actual eclipse,” he continued.
