ISLAMABAD: Lieutenant General (R) Amjad Shoaib was taken into custody by the Islamabad police in a pre-dawn action on Monday on the charges of inciting the public against the state institutions, local media reported.
The sources said that officials from the Ramna police station here apprehended the former minitary officer from his residence in the federal capital. They said that a First Information Report (FIR) was filed Sunday evening against the former army officer at the Islamabad’s Ramna police station following his television interview.
Magistrate Awais Khan is the complainant in the FIR (150), said the sources. The police sources said that the FIR was registered under sections 153-A and 505 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

According to the First Information Report, Shoaib incited people to revolt against the state institutions during a television interview. Currently, Shoaib is in police custody at the lockup of the police station. Police is likely to produce him before a local court today and seek his remand.
The former army officer was previously summoned by the Federal Investigation Agency to appear on September 7 after he made claims about a meeting between the Pakistani prime minister and an Israeli team. However, he failed to appear before the FIA’s Cybercrimes Wing. Amjad Shuaib had alleged that the PM had met with an Israeli delegation during a visit to a Gulf country.
