ISLAMABAD: Lieutenant General Pushpendra Singh, an officer of the Parachute Regiment, has been appointed as the Vice-Chief of Army Staff (VCOAS), will take over the charge on Friday (August 1st), according to The Hindu.
His appointment marks a significant milestone in his career, spanning over 35 years of service to the Indian Army, according to India Today.
Lt General Singh will be succeeding Lt General NS Raja Subramani, who assumed the office of VCOAS on July 1 last year.

Commissioned into the 4 Para Special Forces in 1987, Singh has participated in numerous operations, including Pawan, Meghdoot, Rakshak, and Orchid.
Foreign combat exposure
His foreign combat exposure includes serving in United Nations Peacekeeping Missions in Lebanon and Sri Lanka.
Singh has held various leadership roles throughout his career, including serving as the General Officer Commanding of the Rising Star Corps since April 2022. His service has been recognised with the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and the Sena Medal, which he has been awarded twice.
An alumnus of the Indian Military Academy, Singh’s educational background has played a significant role in shaping his leadership skills and strategic thinking, according to India Today.
