ISLAMABAD: Due to a surge in the average dollar exchange rate, the interim government has raised the prices of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) for both commercial and domestic consumers for the month of December.
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) announced that LPG prices had been adjusted to Rs254.86 per kg, reflecting an increase from the previous month’s rate of Rs251.03, impacting various cylinder sizes differently.
Ogra said that the LPG producer price is associated with the US dollar exchange rate and the Saudi Aramco-CP, which remained constant compared to the previous month. However, a 1.87% rise in the average dollar exchange rate has led to a 1.5% increase in LPG consumer prices, amounting to Rs45.18/11.8 kg cylinder.
Following this adjustment, the price of a domestic cylinder has risen by Rs45.18/11.8kg, reaching Rs3,007.35 from Rs2,962.17 in November. Simultaneously, the price of a 45.4kg commercial cylinder will experience an increase of Rs173.882.
It’s worth noting that in September, the interim government increased the LPG price by Rs39 per kilogram (19.37%), followed by an 8.7 percent or Rs 20.86 per kilogram rise in October. However, in November, the prices experienced a decrease of Rs9.95/kg.
