LOS ANGELES: In a posthumous memoir titled From Here to the Great Unknown, Lisa Marie Presley, the ex-wife of Michael Jackson, has once again defended the late pop star against longstanding child abuse allegations.
The memoir, completed by her daughter Riley Keough using tape recordings made by Lisa Marie, was released after her death in January 2023 at the age of 54.
In the book, Lisa Marie, the daughter of Elvis Presley, recounts her brief but intensely passionate marriage to Michael Jackson, which began in 1994.
She expresses her joy during the early days of their relationship, saying, “I was actually so happy. I’ve never been that happy again.”
Addressing the child abuse allegations that clouded Jackson’s later years, Lisa Marie strongly denied witnessing any inappropriate behavior. “I never saw a goddamn thing like that. I personally would’ve killed him if I had,” she stated in the memoir.
This echoes Lisa Marie’s earlier comments during a 2010 interview with Oprah Winfrey, where she firmly rejected the notion that Jackson had ever engaged in any harmful conduct. “No… I was never in that room. I can tell you I never saw anything like that,” she told Winfrey at the time.
In addition to defending Jackson, Lisa Marie praises him as a unique and extraordinary person. “There was an energy there, something about him that was truly remarkable, something that I’ve never ever seen or felt in my entire life, other than with my dad,” she writes. “I fell in love with him because he was normal.”
