ISLAMABAD: Light to moderate rain hit different parts of the country, including the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, on Sunday night and Monday, which has turned the weather cold.
Dry and cold weather is expected in most parts, while cloudy/cold in the upper and western parts of the country. Rain-thunderstorm and snow is expected in upper Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, north Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, Islamabad, Kashmir, and adjoining hilly areas.
Rain in hilly areas
The rainy weather in different hilly areas is attracting several tourists who are visiting these areas to enjoy the beauty of the season.
A shallow westerly wave is likely to affect the western and upper parts of the country and may persist in the upper parts till today.
Air quality
The air quality in Lahore is 184 US AQI; in Bahawalpur, it is 169, 126 in Muridke, 84 in Mangla, and 79 in Rawalpindi. In Sindh, the air quality in Karachi is 156 US AQI, while Islamabad’s air quality stands at 58. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), the air quality in Peshawar is 155, while 67 in Abbottabad.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (MET), a maximum of 12 degrees Celsius (°C) temperature was recorded in Islamabad, 16°C in Lahore, 23°C in Karachi, , 14°C in Peshawar, 4°C in Quetta, and 9°C in Gilgit.

Today’s recorded minimum temperature (C): Leh -11, Kalam -06, Gupis -05, Parachinar -04, Astore, Bagrote, Mirkhani, Rawalakot and Skardu -02.
