TABUK: NEOM, the visionary sustainable regional development in northwest Saudi Arabia, has announced Leyja as its new tourism destination to enhance the Kingdom’s commitment to ecotourism, Saudi Gazette reported on Sunday.

The Board of Directors announced the exciting addition, marking an important step in NEOM’s mission to become a sustainable destination.

Located in NEOM, Leyja will start from Gulf of Aqaba coast to the west, then winds inland to form a spectacular natural valley surrounded by 400m-high mountains.

The new tourism destination is a part of NEOM’s efforts to become a multilayered attraction, in line with the Kingdom’s efforts to establish a strong and sustainable tourism industry under Vision 2030.

95% of Leyja will be allocated for nature, blending innovative, ecological design and construction techniques integrated with the natural landscape.

The destination will have three hotels designed by world-leading architects, each offering 120 rooms and suites.

The first property, designed for active adventure, will ascend the valley like a staircase without disturbing the natural terrain. It will make an ideal location for rock climbing and other activities.

The second property will be located at the center of the valley’s largest oasis while the third will be an immersive wellness retreat promoting longevity.

Leyja once completed will offer unique experiences, including fine food prepared by world’s famous chefs, wellness facilities, rooftop pools, guided walks, hiking trails, mountain biking, and rock climbing.

The NEOM project will feature flagship regions, including Sindalah, a luxury island; THE LINE, a linear city that shows the future of urban living; Trojena, an all-weather mountain destination with first outdoor ski facility in the GCC region; and Oxagon, an industrial city focusing on advanced and clean industries.
