ISLAMABAD: Former Pakistan cricket skipper Wasim Akram said on Saturday he is “looking forward” to launching Saudi cricket league after his trip to the Kingdom this week.
He held a meeting with Chairman of Saudi Arabian Cricket Federation Prince Saud bin Mishal and discussed the future of the game in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).

In a message on social media, he wrote, “He had held a great meeting with Saud bin Mishal and discussed cricket in the Kingdom, and so looking forward to launch a Saudi league Insha Allah very soon. The former skipper’s trip follows a recent strengthening of cricket relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
Earlier, owner of Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Peshawar Zalmi Javed Afridi had announced that Zalmi will play exhibition matches in the Kingdom.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Najam Sethi had said last month that Pakistan is willing to share its expertise with KSA. Saudi Arabia and Pakistan have strong defense, economic and cultural relations.

Since its formation in 2020, the KSA Cricket Federation has carried out a series of key initiatives, including a corporate tournament, national championship, league for expatriate workers, and social programs in several parts of the Kingdom.
Saudi Cricket Federation oversees 15 associations representing the game in 9 regions, and announced plans to establish additional associations in the remaining regions to promote cricket in the Kingdom.
