BEIRUT: Maurice Sleem, Lebanon’s Minister of Defense, survived an assassination attempt on Thursday after the car he was traveling in came under attack in the Jisr Al-Basha area.
The minister was taken to a safe area and was not wounded, acording to Lebanes media.
Defense minister’s statement
The minister said in a statement that said he was fine but his car’s rear windshield had been shattered by the impact of bullets.
The assassination attempt comes a day after a truck belonging to the militant group Hezbollah overturned on a mountain road near Beirut and was followed by a shooting that left two people dead.
