LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court in Pakistan’s Lahore granted interim bail to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan in three terrorism-related cases on Saturday.

The former premier appeared before the court to secure bail in cases including the arson, Zille Shah murder case, and interference in state affairs. These cases were registered against the PTI chairman at the Race Course police station here under anti-terror, abetting and aiding provisions.

Last week, the Lahore High Court had granted protective bail to the PTI chief in the same cases and directed the former premier to approach the relevant court. Imran Khan, in his petition, sought interim bail as he wants to be part of the investigation but is feeling fear of arrest by the police.

During the hearing, the ATC directed the former premier to be a part of the investigation and not miss any hearing. The ATC granted Imran Khan bail in the three cases untill April 24 in return for surety bonds of Rs100,000 in each case.

The PTI chairman also claimed that about 1,600 party workers have been arrested.

Crackdown on PTI workers

The police have launched a crackdown on PTI workers ahead of the party’s gathering, while major roads leading to the venue have been blocked.
