ISLAMABAD/LA MOLINA, SPAIN: The snowboard competition, scheduled to be held in La Molina in the Spanish Pyrenees this month has been postponed because of a lack of snow, the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) said in a statement.

Snowboard Competition Rescheduled

The FIS said the event would occur from March 9 to 18 at the exact location.

The event had to be postponed due to “critical snow conditions in La Molina caused by the unseasonably high temperatures across most of Central Europe over the holidays.”

“The FIS would like to take this opportunity to thank the organising committee for their flexibility and drive to deliver a quality world championship for the para snowboard competitors,” the statement said.

The Alpine World and Para-Nordic Ski Championships are still set to take place in Oestersund, Sweden, and Espot, Spain, respectively, later this month, according to the FIS.

This month’s mild weather in Europe has hurt winter sports, with World Cup events being postponed in the Italian, Austrian, and Swiss Alps.
