Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan Discuss Expanding Economic Cooperation: Report

ASHKENT: Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan  have discussed the current state and steps for further expansion of trade and economic cooperation, local media reported on Thursday.

The discussion was made during a meeting between Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov with envoy of Kyrgyzstan to Uzbekistan Musa Dzhamanbaev. They discussed expansion of cooperation, including within the framework of realization of the current agreements between the two nations.

Both sides reached deal on a number of matters related to holding bilateral events in 2024, opening of ‘Made in Kyrgyzstan’ trade houses in Tashkent and ‘Made in Uzbekistan’ trade houses in Bishkek, local media reported.

The authorities also agreed upon the necessity to increase the activities of the Uzbek-Kyrgyz joint fund, develop new joint projects and expand energy, logistics and transport cooperation.

Meanwhile, trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan amounted to $953.4 million in the previous year.
