BISHKEK: President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov has spoken over the phone with Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida and discussed bilateral ties, the press service of the head of state reported on Thursday.
Sadyr Japarov expressed words of support to the people of Japan following the recent earthquake in the southwest of the country.
“The parties discussed the state and prospects of development of Kyrgyzstan-Japan relations, and exchanged views on issues of bilateral and regional cooperation,” the press service noted.
Fumio Kishida reiterated Japan’s unwavering commitment to strengthening ties with Kyrgyzstan and other Central Asian states.
A conference of Central Asian states and Japan was to be held in Bishkek on August 9 with the participation of the heads of the region’s countries and the Prime Minister of Japan. However, it was cancelled because Fumio Kishida could not arrive in Astana due to the threat of a strong earthquake in Japan.
