BISHKEK: Kyrgyz president Sadyr Japarov has underlined weak economy, terrorism, and drug smuggling as major issues facing Afghanistan, local media reported.
Sadyr Japarov, speaking at a meeting in Bishkek, asked the US to unfreeze the assets of Afghanistan’s Bank. President Japarov identified smuggling of drugs, terrorism, and a weak economy as major problems of Afghanistan.
The Kyrgyz President expressed his pleasure over timely steps, cooperation and coordination among regional nations on preventing conflict in Afghanistan. He asked Washington to release the frozen assets of Afghanistan’s central bank, recommended the money should be spent on the welfare of the people of Afghanistan.
He pledged Kyrgyzstan would continue to provide Afghanistan with humanitarian help, especially for earthquake victims in Herat province.
