ISLAMABAD: As per a statement by Ukraine’s armed forces chief, two Russian missiles passed through the airspace of Moldova and Romania on their way to Ukraine. Romania is a member of Ukraine’s ally NATO.
Through his social media account, Valery Zaluzhny stated that at 0818 GMT, 2 Russian Kalibr cruise missiles made their way into Ukraine crossing the Republic of Moldova while at 0833 GMT 3 such Russian missiles entered Ukrainian airspace from Romania.

However, Romania’s defense ministry said there was an unconfirmed report regarding a Russian missile flying into the country’s airspace. If confirmed, then it would be the first violation of a NATO member’s airspace since the conflict began.
Meanwhile, Moldova’s ministry of defense confirmed the detection of a missile that passed through Moldovan airspace.
Prior to this incident, Moldova has seen debris from Russian missiles during Russia’s invasion of Ukraine that is set to clock its first-year anniversary.
