KUWAIT CITY: The newly appointed Prime Minister of Kuwait, Sheikh Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, finalized the formation of his new government, official news agency KUNA reported on Wednesday.

Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, approved members of the new cabinet, comprising 13 ministers, reported KUNA.

Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya was designated as the foreign minister, while Fahad Yusuf Al-Sabah assumed the roles of deputy prime minister, minister of defense, and acting minister of interior.

The accession of Sheikh Mishal on December 20, 2023, marked him as Kuwait’s 17th ruler, succeeding his half-brother, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, who passed away at the age of 86.

On the same day, Sheikh Mishal accepted the resignation of the former cabinet, led by Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the son of the late emir. The new emir appointed Sheikh Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah as prime minister on January 4.
