Kuwait Welcomes ‘Successful’ Iranian FM’s Trip to Saudi Arabia

KUWAIT: Kuwait’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah lauded Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian’s trip to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), Arab News reported on Friday.

Kuwait’s foreign ministry said in a statement that Al-Sabah hoped that the trip would be “the start of a bright and new chapter in the history of Arab-Iranian ties built on the principles of good neighborliness relationship, non-interference in the domestic affairs of other nations, dialogue and cooperation.”

Kuwait’s FM also noted that the Riyadh-Tehran ties would contribute to achieving stability, peace, and prosperity in the region and would be a key factor in empowering nations to face upcoming challenges.

The Kuwaiti top diplomat said the trip reflected the keenness of both nations to restore bilateral relations and preserve regional stability and security.

Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah also hailed Beijing’s mediation in the rapprochement of ties and the efforts of Oman and Iraq in facilitating talks.

Iranian Minister for Foreign Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian met with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s (KSA) Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman in Jeddah, Arab media reported on Friday.

According to Arab News, the meeting came as part of Iran’s top diplomat’s visit to Saudi Arabia on his first visit to the Kingdom since a landmark rapprochement agreement in March.

Earlier, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian on Thursday confirmed that President Raisi will visit Saudi Arabia anytime soon. Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Prince Faisal, bin Farhan, said that Saudi Arabia hopes to see the Iranian President visit the Kingdom following an invitation from King Salman bin Abdulaziz.
