NEW YORK: Kuwait’s Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah has affirmed nations’ right to maintain independence, sovereignty, and territorial sanctity, Arab media reported on Thursday. He was addressing at the UNSC session in New York.
Kuwait Supports Countries’ Right to Maintain Independence, Sovereignty
Al-Sabah stressed nonintervention in countries’ domestic affairs, resolution of conflicts with peaceful means and refraining from the use of force, as well as people’s right to self-determination, and reassuring respect for human rights.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the minister also underlined the importance of the UN charter’s principles and goals, particularly the “role in defending small nations.”
He said that the world has no option other than uniting to face local and global challenges. Al-Sabah said that Ukraine’s independence and sovereignty should be respected.
He said, “We call on the parties involved in the Ukraine war to abide by international law in respect of protecting the civilian population, facilitating safe and quick delivery of humanitarian assistance to those in need,”. He also called for the Black Sea grain agreement to be renewed.
