Kuwait Reiterates Support for Peace Efforts in Ukraine

KUWAIT: Kuwait has reiterated its support for global ceasefire efforts in Ukraine and stressed the need to respect the sovereignty of countries amid the recent war escalation.

According to the official statement issued after a meeting between the Foreign Minister of Kuwait, Sheikh Salem Al-Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and the Ukrainian Ambassador to Kuwait, Oleksandr Balanutsa. During the meeting, the two discussed the latest developments in the Ukraine war.

During the meeting, Kuwait’s foreign minister reaffirmed his country’s stance towards the war, calling for adherence to the United Nations Charter, the principles of international law, and territorial sanctity with globally recognized borders, the Kuwait News Agency reported.

Ukrainian ambassador appreciates Kuwait’s support

The foreign minister reiterated his country’s support for international efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Ukraine, de-escalate the violence, promote talks and reach a peaceful solution.

Balanutsa praised Kuwait’s humanitarian assistance for Ukraine and its support for efforts that aim to end the suffering of civilians affected by the war and achieve peace. 

Meanwhile, during a ceremony, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg recognized Kuwait’s role in maintaining stability and security in the region. Kuwaiti Ambassador Nawaf Al-Enezi, during the ceremony, presented his credentials as an extraordinary ambassador plenipotentiary of Kuwait to NATO.
