AMMAN: Kuwait has made a significant contribution to the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), donating $2 million to aid their humanitarian efforts. The donation was officially presented by Kuwaiti Ambassador to Jordan, Hamad Rashid Al-Marri, to UNRWA’s Director of External Relations and Communications, Tamara Al-Rifai, in Amman.
The Kuwaiti Ambassador highlighted Kuwait’s enduring commitment to supporting the Palestinian cause and addressing the humanitarian challenges faced by refugees in the region. Expressing Kuwait’s respect for UN efforts, he underlined the significance of constructive cooperation to achieve societal development goals.
Tamara Al-Rifai expressed gratitude for Kuwait’s consistent support, stating that the annual contribution exemplified Kuwait’s unwavering solidarity with Palestinian refugees. She acknowledged the generosity and solidarity of the government and people of Kuwait, emphasizing the critical role such contributions play in ensuring the safety and stability of Palestinian refugees in the region.
UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini, addressing the pressing funding crisis concerning Palestinian refugees in host countries, emphasized the agency’s urgent need for financial support.
