KAMPALA: Kuwait affirming its position has called for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the opening of the crossings for the delivery of humanitarian and relief in the enclave, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Friday.
According to the SPA, Permanent Representative of Kuwait to the United Nations, Ambassador Tariq Al-Bannai made the statement before the 19th Ministerial Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement in Uganda.
In his speech, Al-Bannai stressed Kuwait’s categorical rejection of any attempt to forcibly displace the Palestinian people outside their land, saying that there is no path forward except through complete and comprehensive peace through the resolutions of international legitimacy.
He said that the establishment of an independent, sovereign State of Palestine, with East Al-Quds as its capital, on June 4, 1967 is the only solution to the Palestine cause.
He pointed out Kuwait’s commitment to the principles of the Non-Aligned Movement and standing seriously and clearly in the face of all blatant violations in the Palestinian territories, indicating Kuwait’s full support for the steadfastness of the Palestinian people and their resistance to the brutal aggression by the Israeli occupation.
Tariq Al-Bannai renewed Kuwait’s commitment to the values and principles adopted by the Non-Aligned Movement out of its belief in the important role that the movement plays at the international level in order to meet the aspirations and hopes of the people of its member states to enjoy a free and dignified life in which security and prosperity prevail.
