KSrelief Starts Voluntary Program to Combat Blindness in Bangladesh

DHAKA: King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre’s (KSrelief) Assistant Supervisor General for Planning and Development Aqeel Al-Ghamdi on Wednesday launched the Saudi Ibsar volunteer program to combat blindness and the illnesses it caused among school students in Bangladesh, in cooperation with Al-Basar International Foundation, at the Saudi Embassy’s headquarters in Dhaka.

Issa bin Yousef Al-Duhailan, Saudi Ambassador to Bangladesh, attended the inauguration ceremony, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

During the campaign, KSrelief’s volunteer medical team will perform eye examinations to ensure vision safety among thirty thousand students from fifty schools; the team will perform specialized eye operations and distribute medical glasses and lenses as required.

Al-Ghamdi and the accompanying delegation visited many schools where at least 1,000 students will be examined by KSrelief’s volunteer medical team in the upcoming three days.

The delegation also toured Makkah Specialist Eye Hospital, affiliated with the Al-Basar International Foundation, one of the humanitarian projects within the Combat Blindness International Program.
