MOGADISHU: Advisor at the Royal Court and Supervisor General of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah, has launched24 humanitarian and relief projects in Somalia, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Sunday.
According to the SPA, the projects worth $45 million in food, health, education, water and environmental sectors are expected to benefit 5,798,077 individuals.
Prime Minister of Somalia Hamza Abdi Barre, Assistant Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Affairs for Humanitarian, Social Affairs Ambassador Tariq Ali Bakheet, several ministers, Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Somalia Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Mawlid and Al Rabeeah’s accompanying delegation attended the launching ceremony of the projects.

The Supervisor General expressing joy on the occasion said the humanitarian projects will address the needs of the Somali people. He said the event signifies the strong ties between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Somalia, fostered through mutual respect between their leaderships and successive visits by officials to promote cooperation.
He added that Saudi Arabia’s humanitarian assistance to those in need around the world, has so far reached some $127.78 billion.
He went on to say that the KSrelief has implemented 2,783 projects worth some $6.6 billion in 95 states with the participation of 175 UN, international and regional partners.
The official said the total amount of aid provided to Somalia until the end of 2023 reached $423 million, of which the center contributed around $227 million to implement 106 projects.
