ISLAMABAD: King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) on Thursday announced the successful conclusion of its sponsorship of five additional eye camps in Sindh and Baluchistan provinces of Pakistan, saying the step was part of its efforts to combat eye diseases in the n country.
According to a press statement, this marks the 3rd phase of a crucial project aimed at combating blindness and eye diseases in Pakistan. In collaboration with the Al-Basar International Foundation and Al-Ibrahim Eye Hospital Karachi, these camps have provided advanced eye care to people facing financial challenges or lacking access to specialized medical treatment.
Strategically located in both rural and urban areas of Baluchistan and Sindh provinces, these camps targeted areas with limited eye care services. The basic objective was the early detection and medical treatment of eye-related problems to prevent blindness and also improve the quality of life for thousands of people.
Throughout the program, over 21,614 medical examinations and more than 2,038 surgeries were successfully performed. Moreover, 4,683 pairs of corrective glasses were also distributed, along with prescribed medications, ensuring complete care for all patients.
The impact of this step has been significant, benefiting people across Baluchistan and Sindh provinces of the South Asian countries. Camps held in Karachi, Matli, Shikarpur in Sindh, and District Khuzdar in Baluchistan provided specialized eye care services, restoring vision and also offering hope for a brighter future. The statement further said that four more camps are planned for September in Kharan, Jehlum, Mardan, and Talagang to facilitate more patients in other provinces as part of the third phase.
