RIYADH: The Saudi aid agency KSrelief has announced to finance six projects to support Syrian refugees in Jordan and the host communities with food, shelter, and health requirements, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Friday.

Advisor to the Royal Court and General Supervisor of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Rabeeah, inaugurated the project in Jordanian capital Amman.

Al-Rabeeah on the occasion said Saudi Arabia had been keen to provide support since the beginning of the humanitarian crisis in Syria, be it by hosting Syrian refugees in the Kingdom and providing them with necessary services, or by supporting millions of Syrian refugees in Syria and beyond, including in Lebanon, Turkiye, Jordan, Greece, and Malaysia.

He added KSrelief is delighted to sign and launch a package of food, shelter, and health projects for Syrian refugees worth $19.5 million, bringing the total amount provided to them, in the Kingdom or outside, to over $6 billion.

He added that over $162 million has gone to implement 121 projects in Jordan.

Al-Rabeeah went on to say that those suffering depend on humanitarian organizations, whose members put their lives at risk on the front lines and in areas of conflict to save people, and help those in need without compromising humanitarian principles.

He stressed the importance of collective responsibility in supporting humanitarian organizations committed to helping those in need, and called for rigorous efforts on to protect humanitarian work teams.

He called for protecting and supporting defenseless civilians, especially children, women, and the elderly.

KSrelief signed three agreements with the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization, along with agreements with the King Hussein Cancer Center, the World Food Programme, and the International Medical Corps.
