JEDDAH: The Ministry of Sport has announced that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) will host the Spanish Super Cup football contests for the 5th time, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
The SPA reported that Real Madrid, Athletic Bilbao, Barcelona, and Real Mallorca will play at Jeddah-based King Abdullah Sports City Stadium from January 8 to 12, 2025. It will be a knockout event.
The SPA reported that Real Madrid will face Real Mallorca on January 8, while Barcelona will play against Athletic Bilbao the following day. The winners of each game will advance to the final, scheduled for January 12.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) hosted four previous editions of the Spanish Super Cup, including in 2020, when Real Madrid won the title following defeating Atlético Madrid.
The 2nd edition was played in Riyadh, with Real Madrid claiming the 2022 title, the SPA maintained. Barcelona won the 3rd edition by defeating Real Madrid, while Real Madrid lifted the cup in the 4th edition in Riyadh earlier this year.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s (KSA) hosting of the Spanish Super Cup, part of the Quality-of-Life Program, shows Saudi Arabia’s success in attracting major regional and global events. This also aligns with Saudi Vision 2030 goal of making the sports field grow.
