RIYADH: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s (KSA) condemnation and denunciation in the strongest terms of the Israeli Knesset’s approval of draft laws banning the activities of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in the occupied Palestinian territories, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The SPA reported that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) stressed that such action constitutes a blatant violation of global law and directly undermines the principles of global legitimacy amid the unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe faced by the people of Palestine.
It has reaffirmed its unequivocal rejection of the current, systematic acts by the Israeli occupation authorities aimed at politically and militarily targeting UN agencies and relief organizations, the SPA added.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) stressed that these practices also constitute a continuation of ethnic-cleansing crimes against the people of Palestine, erasing Palestinian identity, as well as undermining efforts to achieve comprehensive and just peace, the SPA reported.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) reiterated its support and solidarity with UNRWA in its humanitarian mission to assist Palestinian refugees across all sectors, the SPA added. It also emphasized that the agency is one of the outcomes of UNSC Resolution 194 of 1948, which remains a cornerstone of legal and material support for the Palestinian refugees’ right of return, the SPA further reported.
