A statement issued by Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the armed men sabotaged cameras and devices in the complex and then grabbed property and disrupted services and systems on Tuesday. The ministry said that the Kingdom condemned the act in the African country and called for the respect and sanctity of diplomatic missions in the crisis-hit Sudan. It added that it was holding the culprits responsible for their assault on the building.

Riyadh has also renewed the call to stop the military escalation in Sudan, end the current violence, and also provide the protection and safety for residents, diplomats, and Sudanese people. Fighting between Sudan’s regular army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) by Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo, has continued despite Washington-brokered 72-hour truce.

Earlier, on Tuesday KSA Minister for Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan had phoned Moussa Faki Mahamat, the head of the African Union Commission in order to discuss the efforts to end the violence.

They also discussed the significance of preventing the military escalation of the crisis and protecting the civilians in Sudan. The two leaders also spoke regarding the latest developments in the African region, in addition to discussing global and regional matters and matters of common interest.

Meanwhile, the Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) also strongly condemned storming of Saudi cultural attaché compound in Khartoum, denouncing the vandalism and looting that occurred in the building, Arab media reported on Wednesday.

Secretary General Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi lauded the significant humanitarian and diplomatic role that the Kingdom plays in the crisis-hit Sudan, stressing that all GCC nations stand with Riyadh in condemning this act of terrorism.
