RIYADH: Saudi Minister of Transport and Logistic Services Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser has launched a major mega bus transport services project aimed at connecting over 200 cities and provinces, with the capacity to accommodate 6 million passengers annually, in the capital city Riyadh, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Monday.

The mega project operates via 3 international alliances in three concession areas, using a state-of-the-art fleet of buses equipped with latest and advanced technological features to set up connections across 76 routes within 200 cities and provinces.

The inaugural ceremony was organized by the Transport General Authority. The event was attended by ministers, officials from government authorities, private sector firms and ambassadors, the SPA added.

During the event, the minister highlighted the mega project’s contribution to creating more than 35,000 direct and indirect jobs, with an anticipated addition of SAR3.2 billion to the GDP, the SPA maintained.

Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser emphasized that this advanced initiative, designed to enhance services for beneficiaries and also strengthen private sector partnerships, represents the first foreign investment in this sector. The Minister also emphasized the positive impact of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy launched by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, which has been instrumental in fostering growth and reform across all fields of the logistics system and transportation, the SPA reported.
