KSA Holds Longest Ever Iftar Table in Indonesia

JAKARTA:  The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) has organized the longest-ever Iftar table in Padang, the capital city of West Sumatra province in Indonesia, Arab media reported on Tuesday. The Iftar was arranged by the KSA Ministry of Islamic Affairs and represented by the Religious Attaché in Indonesia.

Over 8,000 citizens of Indonesia from different walks of life attended the Iftar banquet in Padang. This was part of the Iftar program of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques that the Ministry of Islamic Affairs has been hosting in several parts of Indonesia.

KSA-Indonesia ties

The Religious Attaché at the KSA’s Embassy in Jakarta, Ahmed bin Isa Al-Hazmi and West Sumatra Governor Mahyeldi Ansharullah also attended the Iftar party in the presence of key political and Islamic figures and top officials of universities and Islamic associations in the province.

Governor Mahyeldi Ansharullah said that the government of Indonesia would seek to record this Iftar table in the Guinness World Records as the longest-ever table in the history of the country. The Iftar table was organized in coordination with around forty restaurants and four hundred workers.

Mahyeldi Ansharullah thanked the leadership of Saudi Arabia for this great generosity. The governor said that it would further strengthen the ties of brotherhood and friendship between Muslims and other communities.

He hoped that such good deeds would further enhance the ties between the governments and peoples of the two nations.
