MOSCOW: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has evacuated dozens of Russian nationals from Sudan, Russian media reported on Monday. The press-attaché of the Consulate General of the Russia in Jeddah, Ruslan Usmanov told in an interview with Russian state-run news agency TASS that the Kingdom evacuated dozens of Russians from the African country.

The diplomats said that Russian citizens are being taken out by the Kingdom’s warships from Sudan. He said that the citizens of Russia are taken out of the port of Sudan, then they (citizens) are brought to Jeddah. He maintained that he meets with Russian citizens in Jeddah.
He further said that as many as 40 citizens of Russia have reached to Jeddah and many of them left for Russia. The press-attaché said that Saudi Arabia is evacuating US, EU countries and Russians citizens from Sudan.
The authorities of the Kingdom, he said, provide the Consulate General of the Russia with information on the lists of evacuees.
“The Saudi Arabia, in principle, still pays them for two days hotel accommodation with foods,” Usmanov said. “After that, the Russian citizens leave for Moscow. If there is need, we escort them to the airport, solve some matters, but as a rule everything goes clearly and smoothly. There are no issues yet.”
Recently, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova confirmed in an interview with Arab media that Russia is in contact with Saudi Arabia regarding the evacuation of its citizens and diplomats from crisis-hit Sudan.
