KSA, China to Further Enhance Cooperation in Peaceful Use of Atomic Energy: Arab Media

JEDDAH: The officials of Saudi Arabia and China have discussed ways to further enhance bilateral cooperation in the sectors of peaceful use of nuclear technology, Arab media reported on Monday.

According to Saudi Gazette, the discussions were held in this connection between CEO of the Saudi Geological Survey (SGS) Eng. Abdullah Al-Shamrani and vice chairman of the Board of Directors of the China Atomic Energy Authority (CAEA) Liu Jing in Jeddah.

During their discussions, the CAEA and SGS officials examined different aspects of partnership and mutual cooperation in the sectors of geosciences and alternative geo energy. The meeting also reviewed a number of projects linked to geological sciences and the national geological database, and the abilities and experiences possessed by the two sides, which ensure the improvement of the outputs of their work.

The Chinese officials also paid a field trip to the drilling library. They reviewed the basic drilling database management system as well as the technical procedures for drilling samples.

It may be recalled that the four-day trip of the Chinese delegation comes as part of the meetings with authorities of the Saudi Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Commission and the Saudi Geological Survey to discuss means to further enhance cooperation in the sector of peaceful use of nuclear energy and technology. The SGS is also working within its current alternative renewable geothermal energy exploration initiative projects.
