KSA Arrests 15,734 for Violating Laws

RIYADH: As many as 15,734 people were arrested for violating laws of residency, labor, and border security regulations in various parts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) within a week.

The Kingdom’s Interior Ministry said that the arrests were made during a joint drive of various units of the security forces. It added that the drive was carried out in different parts of the country from Jan 5 to 11.

The officials said that the arrests included 4,180 violators of the border security rules, 8,732 violators of the residency system, and 2,822 violators of labor laws.

Officials said that 620 people were also arrested while making attempt to cross the border into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), 65 percent were Yemenis, 30 percent Ethiopians, and 5 percent of other nationalities.

Officials said that a total of 31,892 violators including 2,002 women are currently subjected to procedures for violating laws.

The Ministry of Interior said that any person who facilitates the entry of an infiltrator into Saudi Arabia or gives him service or transportation shall be punished with penalties of up to 15 years in jail, and a fine of SR1 million, in addition to the seizure of the means of transportation.
