RIYADH: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) on Saturday said Riyadh was deeply concerned regarding the clashes and escalation in Sudan, calling on all parties to choose negotiation over conflict.
In a statement Saudi foreign ministry said that Saudi Araba asked all parties in Sudan to avoid escalation in the country. Similarly, the Kingdom embassy in Sudan advised Saudi citizens to stay at home and to communicate with the embassy in case of emergency.

In a tweet, Saudi foreign minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan stated: “Saudi call on the brothers in Sudan to rapidly stop military actions, exercise restraint, avoid escalation, clashes and give priority to the interest of the Sudanese people by preserving their advances and abilities, and to return to the framework deal that aims to reach a political settlement that achieves stability, security, and prosperity for the country and its people.”
The United Arab Emirates also called all parties in Sudan to stop escalation and work to end the crisis through talks, the official news agency reported.
UAE media reported that the UAE Embassy in Sudan was following “with concern the recent developments in Sudan and has reaffirmed its stance on the significance of de-escalation, and working toward finding a political solution to the conflict between the parties.”
Meanwhile, the Arab League Secretary-General denounced the use of weapons in Sudan and called for an immediate truce to the current escalation. In a statement, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also called on all parties in Sudan to exercise maximum restraint.
Earlier, fierce clashes between Sudan’s powerful paramilitary force and military erupted Saturday in the Khartoum, raising fears of a conflict in the African nation.
In the country’s capital Khartoum, the sound of heavy firing could be heard in many areas, including the city main center and the neighborhood areas.
